POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides case coordination, clinical support, and administrative support for the provision of the continuum of crisis services at the Crisis Intervention Training and Assessment Center (CITAC), supporting advocacy for individuals in a behavioral health crisis in accordance with regulations set by Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS). This role supports the work of the Crisis Clinicians and collaborates closely between Crisis Services, all NWCSB departments, and community partners to ensure continuity in service provision.

CORE COMPETENCIES OF POSITION DUTIES
- Provide brief care coordination and supportive services to individuals being served by the crisis services program, ensuring a smooth handoff to outpatient providers.
- Assist in providing crisis intervention to individuals, including identifying protective factors and drafting clinician-directed safety plans under supervision.
- Assist with bed searches for individuals needing hospitalization, including preparing, completing, and submitting required documentation to external facilities for admission review and determination.
- Provide supportive response, stabilization, and problem-solving assistance when answering 24-hour crisis telephone line, in coordination with licensed staff and emergency services as appropriate.
- Research previous documentation and relates to Crisis staff.
- Serve as liaison with stakeholders regarding ongoing cases of individuals engaged with the civil commitment process for coordination and information-sharing purposes, including law enforcement officers and hospital staff.
- Assist with obtaining needed authorizations for services
- Produce, maintain, and document accurate client-related service records in the electronic health record (EHR) in accordance with agency and regulatory requirements.
- Provide required contacts and receive information for all entities related to the provision of Emergency Services as directed by Crisis Services leadership or licensed staff, to include but not limited to local magistrate, doctors, hospital admission units, local law enforcement, on-call staff.
- Perform data collection and data entry to maintain statistics related to grants and other projects.
- Provide general office coverage to include scanning and photocopying.

SUPERVISION
Received: This position reports directly to the Crisis Services Program Manager
Exercised: This position does not supervise.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE
This position maintains a 40-hour work week on an assigned crisis services shift; however, the schedule may be adjusted to meet the needs of the agency at the discretion of the supervisor or program director. As an FLSA non-exempt position, the position is subject to overtime earnings according to the laws and regulations of both the Commonwealth of Virginia and United States.

Some travel may be required on occasion (up to 10%). A valid Virginia driver’s license or obtaining a Virginia driver’s license within 90 days and an acceptable driving record are required for this position.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
Qualifications
- A combination of mental health work experience or relevant education, and training, which indicates the possession of knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform essential job duties.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in relevant human services field required.
- Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) required.
- At least two years’ experience working with individuals with behavioral health needs required
- An eagerness to invest in one’s community through service
- Clinical experience providing crisis intervention preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge
Knowledge of behavioral health conditions and crisis response principles as applied to short-term stabilization and continuity of care; of care coordination, case management, and discharge planning within crisis services. Cultural competence in working with diverse populations. Working knowledge of community systems, resources, and inter-agency collaboration. Working knowledge of voluntary and involuntary admission processes, civil commitment procedures, and hospital coordination within crisis services.
Skills
Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to build collaborative relationships; organizational and problem-solving skills. Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite and electronic health record (EHR) systems

Demonstrated ability to support crisis intervention activities under supervision; to assist individuals in evaluating needs and accessing available resources and work effectively with community resources; to communicate and coordinate effectively with licensed staff, hospitals, law enforcement, and community providers; to exercise sound professional judgment within assigned scope; to work effectively with others as part of a team; to adapt in a complex, fast-paced work environment; and to work independently while following established protocols. Ability to approach individuals in crisis with humility and respect for lived experiences.
Physical Requirements
- May be exposed to clients with infectious diseases.
- Must be able to drive for long periods of time to visit clients in and out of the catchment area as needed.
- Must be able to walk distances, climb and descend stairs, maneuver in and out of agency vehicles.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 25 pounds at times.
- Work performed in community settings, homes, clinics, and emergency facilities.
SALARY: Starting at $55,145
