This position is responsible for driving the agency’s vehicles, providing transportation for clients to and from Agency appointments and to and from the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Programs, which serve clients with long-term mental illness. This position will also be responsible for driving for other program-sponsored outings.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Transports individuals to and from Northwestern Clinics or programs for appointments and to other community agencies when approved and when treatment team staff are unable to provide necessary transportation and options such as ‘Medicaid Cab’ transport are not possible or feasible, to the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Programs, or to other program-sponsored outings in the agency vehicles on a daily or as needed basis.
- Advises program staff of problems, needs, and/or unusual behavior of individuals transported, or scheduled for transport who do not keep their transportation appointment.
- Maintains a record of mileage and passenger list daily.
- Conducts pre-trip inspection of vehicle and documents per protocols.
- Develops and maintains scheduled routes and pick-up times.
- Maintains agency vehicle(s) in good operating condition to assure safety of occupants.
- Enforces safety procedures within agency vehicle(s), such as the use of seat belts and prohibiting smoking, eating, and drinking while riding in vehicles.
- Purchases gas and oil as needed and processes receipts per agency and site protocols.
- Performs duties supportive to overall agency functions such as courier of mail between sites, transfer of vehicles for maintenance, cleaning and detailing of vehicles, etc. when otherwise not engaged with the transportation of clients.
- Completes required agency training and driver specific training on time, with adequate understanding of content, and demonstrates ability to transfer knowledge to the field.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor, which are consistent with the position and in compliance with agency policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A combination of education, training, and experience which indicates the possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential job duties is required.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license, a good driving record, and the ability to provide your own transportation.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- May be exposed to allergenic environments from client’s homes, including dust, smoke, pet contamination, cleaning supplies, etc
- May be exposed to clients with infectious diseases.
- Must be able to drive for long periods of time to travel in and out of the catchment area as needed.
- Must be able to walk distances, climb and descend stairs, maneuver in and out of agency vehicles.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer; and
- Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 25 pounds at times
SALARY: $15.39 per hour
